Unfortunately business leaders can improve the bottom line without increasing revenues for a while. Ultimately they will flat line and they will keep cutting jobs, I feel that the profits we are seeing in the announcements are what is driving the markets.

Real jobs are not being created, they maybe at some point, but real estate foreclosures are continuing and until the surplus is mopped up we will not see the construction industry start picking up steam. This will continue to drag on the appliance industry autos and furniture.

Most assuredly a ponzi scheme. SS has always been a ‘pay as you go’ program. Current workers paid the benefits advice for current retirees. What little excess went into the so-called trust fund. There isn’t enough in the ss trust fund to pay promised benefits to current retirees. But now, current ss taxes are insufficient so they have to begin redeeming those special issue IOUs (again, with current workers taxes or new borrowing). By 2037 the trust fund will be exhausted and benefits will be scheduled to be reduced by 26%. Just like a ponzi scheme – they paid off early retirees with the taxes of later workers .

You may be right about it being DOA, but wrong about the real Juggernaut…Amazon! Apple has a problem weaning themselves off a 30% profit margin on everything, hardware included! Amazon has so many apples and oranges that they can lose $10 on every Fire device and make it up on virtually anything. Let’s see Apple try to match a program like Amazon Prime where consumers pay an annual fee and get free advice streaming video (better deal than Netflix) and free 2 day shipping, just for starters.
