Exercise is a wonderful method to jump-start your metabolism because it easily burns calories quickly and it also keeps burning them over time. When you actually exercise, you burn calories and as you continue your exercise regime then your body will adapt by burning even more calories.

When you do weight training, this type of exercise burns just few calories (when compared with cardiovascular exercsie). But, weight training will produce increased muscle mass when it’s done over time and while maintaining your muscles through weight training will continue to burn calories in the long term. You should be aware that the extra calories that you burn as a direct result of gaining bigger muscles will not be substantial. Hence, you should make sure you combine your weight training with a suitbable cardiovascular exercise regime to really achieve the best results.

For best results, you should train three or more times a week with each session including an equal mixture of cardiovascular exercise and weight training. It’s always good if you have time to workout more then three times a week, but it’s best to try to exercise at least three hours per week with your exercise equipment.
