There’s a Monster in Your Closet…

2:54 pm Health

How many of you used to be afraid there was a monster in your closet when you were a kid? For me it didn’t even matter that my parents told me (or showed me) there wasn’t a monster. I believed there was and even though it wasn’t true I was still afraid.

So what actually made me feel better was knowing my parents were there and they would keep me safe. Then it didn’t matter that I still believed the monster was real because I felt safe and that it was going to be ok.

Although many of our fears and perceived problems are imagined, exaggerated, “what ifs” or unrealized worst case scenarios we do also have REAL problems to deal with.

But again the same mindset applies. If we believe in ourselves, in those supporting us, maybe in a higher power or that hidden in every problem is the perfect solution we can focus on “that” instead of the problem or the fear it brings and have peace in the midst of the problem.

This is a very simplified and condensed version of some very helpful reading I did on how to overcome fear in one’s life. It’s amazing how by simply shifting my focus or perspective I can live in the middle of the same scary circumstances but have peace instead of fear.
