Pillows - A Brief History

In the days of yore, pillows were only used by the wealthy. In fact, they were a sign of prestige. They can be traced back as far as ancient Egyptian tombs where the pharaohs had pillows placed in their tombs. In China and medieval Europe, creating a pillow was considered an art form, because of the use of sophisticated dyes and different types of sewing techniques.

In fact, traditional Chinese pillows were often created for decorations and not for comfort. This is because they are made out of hard material such as stone, porcelain and wood instead of soft fabric. Imagine trying to sleep with one of those!
