Waterproofing a Basement – When a Weep Pipe Is Needed

11:10 am Home

Sometimes a basement will develop cracks because the water pressure on the outside of the walls has built up too much. In this case, waterproofing a basement is no easy task because the water pressure has not been alleviated yet. In order to alleviate that water pressure, you can install a temporary weep pipe.

A weep pipe will divert the water into a nearby sewer drain. If there is not one nearby, then you can divert it into a sump pump. Once the water pressure has been alleviated, you can patch the hole and seal it with a waterproofing compound.
