Did you know that Barcelona has seven beaches giving a total shore length of 4.5km? The main beaches are Sant Sebastia and Barceloneta; the Olympic port separates them from the other city beaches.

It is a city that is bilingual, both Spanish and Catalan are its main languages.

There is a famous street in Barcelona called the Barcelona Ramblas. It has many artists and street entertainers along its route.

Las Ramblas in Barcelona is approximately 1.2 kilometres long with Port Vell (near the cruise port terminal) at the Southern most end and Placa Catalunya at the northern most end.

The Gran Teatre del Liceu opera theatre is world renowned for live music. Around June every year the city is home to the Sonar Music Festival.

There are many parks in Barcelona 68 in all. They can be divided into12 historic parks, 5 thematic (botanical) parks, 45 urban parks and 6 forest parks. They range from vest-pocket parks to large recreation areas. The parks cover an area of approx 10% of the city.

If you like gothic architecture the older part of the city has many magnificent buildings. The famous architect Antoni Gaudi designed many of these buildings.
